Recent advances in imaging technology and the integration of these imaging technologies into the radiotherapy workflow have resulted in increased accuracy in both target and normal tissue identification, as well as greater precision in radiation dose delivery. In order to leverage the image information, effective image processing technologies are needed to extract, combine and quantify the information into an efficient radiotherapy workflow. In this talk, some image processing technologies and their applications in image-guided cancer radiotherapy will be presented.

Dr. Yang is an assistant professor of Medical Physics and director of the Medical Physics Residency Program in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Yang's specialty is in image-guided intervention, multimodality medical imaging, machine learning, as well as image registration and segmentation. He is an active member of the International Society for Optics and Photonics, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the Radiological Society of North America as well as the American Brachytherapy Society.
