报告题目:A Numerical Study of 3-D Droplets Spreading on Chemically Patterned Surfaces

Abstract:
We study numerically the three-dimensional droplets spreading on chemically patterned surfaces with several different periodic structures. Our model consists of the Navier-Stokes-Cahn-Hilliard equations with the generalized Navier boundary conditions. Stick-slip behavior and contact angle hysteresis are observed. Moreover, we also study the relationship between the effective advancing/receding angle and the two intrinsic angles of the surface patterns. By increasing the volume of droplet gradually, we find that the contact line tends gradually to an equiangular octagon for the square-channel pattern and approaches a regular hexagon for the patterned surface with periodic circles in regular hexagonal arrays. Based on convex splitting schemes, we have done numerical simulations and compared the results between different surface patterns quantitatively. We study the effect of pattern property on the advancing motion of three phase contact lines, the critical volume at contact line jump and the effective advancing angles. The shape of three-phase contact line is much more determined by the macro-structure of the pattern than the micro-structure of the pattern in each period.
报告人简介:
Dr. Hua Zhong received his B.Sc. in Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008, and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2013. After that, he worked in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology as a postdoctoral fellow. He then joined Guangdong University of Finance and Economics in 2016. His research interests include applied mathematics, analysis and simulations of multiphase flow, Darcy flows, non-Darcy flows.
